Gabercord belongs to the twill family. It is cotton fabric developed in reference of woolen fabric, and so called “gabercord”.
In most cases, gabercord is woven with pure cotton yarns or yarns of polyester and acrylic blended. Normally, the yarns are in medium sizes and the threads are twisted with fine yarns. Gabercord is twill in the weave of 2 up 1 down reinforced with the weave on the face side same as that on the backside but running in reverse directions. The yarns on the warp and weft side are so arranged that the warp-side density is higher than that of the weft side and in 2:1 approximately.
Normally, gabercord is woven with thread on the warp side and yarn on the weft.
