Seersucker are the fabrics, which display bubble-shaped patterns on the entire or part of the cloth. Such fabrics are delicate in appearance, light in weight and offer a comfortable wearing.
There are two techniques in developing the seersuckers:
1. Seersucker effect produced by weaving: mostly, single-ply yarns are adopted for the warp and weft sides, or multi-ply yarn for the warp and single for the weft. In such cases, two beams are adopted.
2.Seersucker effect produced by shrinkage from alkali: cotton fibers, after being soaked in strong alkali liquid, will shrink, and then form bubble-shaped patterns. The bubble-shaped patterns on such seersucers produced in these techniques are not durable. However, after being finished with resin, the durability of the pattern is greatly enhanced.
