Poplin are the plain fabrics, which a rhombus style is formed due to the special weave of yarns on warp side. In such fabrics, the warp density is higher than the weft. Normally, the density arrangement on the warp side and weft is 2:1 or 5:3.
There are wide varieties of poplin. If classified according to the yarns and threads involved, there are fully yarn-woven poplin, yarn & thread woven poplin and fully thread-woven poplin; if according to the technologies involved in yarn spinning, there are combed poplin and uncombed poplin; if classified according to the raw materials used, there are cotton poplin and T/C poplin; if classified according to the finishing processes involved, they include bleached poplin, printed poplin, printed poplin and water-repellent poplin, etc.
Poplin are marked with wide applications. They are mainly used in making shirts, blouses and outerwears for men and women. |
